Life Path Number Calculator & Meanings (1–9, 11, 22, 33)

Your Life Path number is the best-known number in numerology: one digit (or a master number) worked out from your full birth date. Here you can calculate it with every step shown, then read each number as a work-style archetype — a playful lens for thinking about careers, side projects and 2027.

The 12 Life Path numbers

Each number has a traditional theme. We describe it as a “trait” and an entrepreneur-style archetype; tap a number for the full page.

How the Life Path number is calculated

We use the “reduce each part” method, a widely used convention in modern numerology:

  1. Reduce the birth month to one digit (October → 10 → 1; November stays 11).
  2. Reduce the birth day the same way (29 → 11; 22 stays 22).
  3. Add the digits of the birth year and reduce (1990 → 19 → 10 → 1).
  4. Add the three results and reduce once more, keeping 11, 22 or 33 if the sum lands on them.

Worked example for November 29, 1990:

Month 11
Day 29 → 11
Year 1990 → 19 → 10 → 1
Sum 11 + 11 + 1 = 23 → 5

So this date is a Life Path 5. Birth time and place are not needed, and the calculator above does the same steps in your browser — your date isn’t sent anywhere.

Master numbers 11, 22 and 33

Three sums are traditionally left unreduced. 11 is called the intuitive or visionary number, 22 the large-scale builder, and 33 the master teacher. Each is read as a more intense version of its root — 2, 4 and 6 — so it is worth reading both pages if you land on a master number.

Master numbers can appear at any step of our method: a birth day of 11, 22 or 29, a year whose digits add to 22 (such as 1993), or a final sum of 11, 22 or 33. That’s also why they are less common than single digits.

Life Path vs Personal Year

Your Life Path never changes — it’s the “main trait” of your profile. Your Personal Year changes every year and uses only your birth month and day plus the current year. Numerologists use it to describe the theme of a particular year. If you are curious about 2027, start with the Personal Year 2027 calculator.

Why different calculators disagree

Some sites add every digit of the date at once instead of reducing each part. For the example above that gives 32 → 5 — the same result this time. Neither is “correct” in a scientific sense; they are different traditions. We show every step so you always know which one you’re reading.
